Renzo BOLDORINI: Curriculum Vitae

Date of birth: 30/04/1959.

Degree in Medicine and Surgery in 1987 (University of Milan, 110/110 with honours), specialist in Pathology in 1991 (University of Milan, 70/70 with honours).

Researcher from 1999 to 2001, Associate Professor since 2001 at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Eastern Piedmont "Amedeo Avogadro", Novara, affiliated with the Service of Pathology, Maggiore Hospital of Novara (Medical Manager I level). He carries out histopathological diagnostic activity, both in neoplastic and non-neoplastic pathology. He is responsible for the Laboratory of Molecular Pathology of the Pathology Division in Maggiore Hospital, Novara. Research activity was conducted primarily on assessing the role of human Polyomavirus (JCV, BKV) in the nephropathy etiology of renal post-transplanted patients. Mainly using molecular techniques, interest has focused on the viral non-coding control region and on the viral capsid protein (VP1), demonstrating the lack of correlation between genetic mutations in these two regions and the development of renal nephropathy. Moreover, he conducted researches concerning the possible interaction between Polyomavirus and brain and urinary tract tumours. Recently, thanks to international collaborations, he studies to evaluate the possible vertical transmission of the Polyomavirus, analysing both maternal and newborn samples, both samples from abortive materials.
