Luigi Mario CASTELLO: Curriculum Vitae

  • 1974 Born in Ivrea (Torino - Italy) on March 7th,
  • 1999 MD degree “cum laude”, University of Pavia, Italy
  • 2000 Research fellowship for one year at the Internal Medicine Laboratory. Eastern Piedmont University “ A. Avogadro” at Novara.
  • 2005 completed the residency program obtaining the Specialization title in Internal Medicine “cum laude”, Eastern Piedmont University “ A. Avogadro” at Novara
  • During the period of residency, Doct. Castello developed particular interest in emergency medicine and in acute cardio-respiratory disease. He learned several techniques as such as central venous catetherism, lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bone marrow biopsy, etc. He also developed expertise in echocardiography (certified by Italian Society for Cardiovascular Ultrasonography- SIEC)
  • 2006 Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine (Faculty position) at the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine of the Eastern Piedmont University “ A. Avogadro” at Novara.
  • In the field of the basic research he learned several methods in cellular biology such as cell culture, stem cell isolation and culture, cell transfections, cell inoculum in animal models, microsurgery in small animal models, in vivo and in vitro angiogenesis, ELISA methods, in molecular biology: isolation of plasmids, PCR, bacterial transfection, immunohystochemistry. He, actually, is interested in electrolyte derangements and molecular/biological research concerning inflammation and applied/clinical research on inflammation, autoimmune diseases, angiogenesis, diabetes and metabolic diseases.
